Part-time Art Teachers/Tutor Hours Varied
A Day in the life as an Art Teacher/Tutor: As an Art Teacher/tutor you will oversee students in non-traditional classroom settings and work one-on-one with students to reinforce art lessons. Your exact duties include ensuring that students learn and create meaningful pieces of art. You will be expected to instruct students of proper techniques, aesthetics, and instruct them on how to use various instruments to make art projects. You will also be expected to maintain the inventory of art materials. You will be responsible for monitoring students during transition as well as establishing a behavior management plan for your classroom.
Qualifications and Skills
- Plan, develop and implement art and art history curriculum to meet learning goals
- Prepare and arrange art materials and art equipment in the classroom for students to use
- Deliver lectures to students on art, art techniques, art history and aesthetics
- Give drawing and painting demonstrations to students to teach them art techniques
- Instruct students in working in different drawing, painting, and coloring techniques
- Discuss various artistic approaches and traditions and encourage students to express themselves artistically
- Provide instruction in the use of pencils, pens, charcoal, brushes, watercolors, acrylic colors, oil colors and other art materials
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong communication skills and the ability to read and write
- Friendly and nurturing disposition as well as the ability to work well with students
